Who are we?
Ave Maria Village (AMV) is a 100-bed, post-acute rehabilitation and long-term care facility, providing skilled nursing services around-the-clock, 365 days per year. AMV is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality health care services with Christian compassion.
Central Dakota Nursing Home was founded in 1962 through the efforts of many in the local community who saw a need for a facility to provide care for aging and disabled individuals in a Christian environment. For many years our facility was owned and operated by Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society of Fargo, North Dakota, later known as Lutheran Health Systems. With the construction of the Heritage Center of Jamestown, a complex of independent living apartments for older adults, on our property in 1991, Central Dakota Nursing Home became Central Dakota Village. In the late 1990s, CDV and all other Lutheran Health Systems properties in North Dakota became a part of Banner Health of Phoenix, Arizona. In 2008, CDV because Ave Maria Village.
In 2002, ownership of AMV and four other long-term care facilities was transferred to SMP Health System (SMPHS). SMPHS is sponsored by the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation of Valley City, North Dakota, with corporate offices in Fargo. It is a small, not-for-profit health care system dedicated to helping communities provide quality health care services in an atmosphere of healing hospitality.
We continue to provide long-term and end-of-life care to our residents. In addition, we have remodeled ten of our rooms to become rehabilitation suites. Following surgery or a short-term hospital stay, individuals often need a longer period of recuperation and rehabilitation prior to returning to their own home or a lower level of care. These suites provide a much-needed service to our local community and surrounding area.
The Heritage Center, a 41-apartment complex adjacent to AMV, has added assisted living services to serve individuals who need more help to enable them to stay in their own apartments longer.
Today, Ave Maria Village employs a staff of over 160, providing care and services with a holistic approach to its short-term patients and long-term care residents.
