Volunteering
Besides employment, there are many ways to become a part of our ministry at Ave Maria Village. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to join us in our work. Following are some of the many volunteer opportunities at Ave Maria Village. This is by no means an all-inclusive list:
Activities—Playing cards, music, assisting with outings and field trips.
Bingo—Calling bingo or assisting residents who need help.
Crafts—Assisting residents and activity staff with various craft projects.
Resident Gift Cart—Taking a gift cart to the residents’ rooms and common areas.
Laundry—Sewing name tags, minor mending, repair of resident clothing.
Religious Activities—Leading or helping with Bible study, devotions, hymn sings, and other religious and/or spiritual opportunities for the residents.
Coffee Shop—Cashiering, helping serve lunches and snacks to residents, visitors, and staff
Visitation/Companionship—Sharing time and personal interests with a special resident.
Musician—Singing, leading music groups, playing the piano, organ, accordion, or other instrument.
Abiders Ministry—Being present with terminally ill residents who are in the dying process.
If you have a talent or an idea which may enhance the quality of life for our residents, or provide assistance to our staff in their work, we’d love to hear from you. Interested persons may contact Peggy Widmer, Activities Coordinator, at 701-252-5660, or peggy.widmer@smphs.org.
